We are celebrating Biodiversity Day across all of our 26 nursing homes under the theme Nature is in our Nature. At emeis Ireland, we believe wellbeing and nature go hand in hand, which is why we’ve created green and rewilding spaces for residents to enjoy across all of our homes.
The staff at The Residence Citywest have been doing great work, Viktorja has been leading some of the green initiatives there by bringing more potted plants indoors for residents to enjoy. “It has been wonderful to see how much joy these greenspaces have brought to the residents by looking after them and seeing them grow.” – Viktorja, Head of Household and Catering.
They have also been enjoying their rewilding area that we have rolled out across all of our homes. It has become a welcoming space for bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
We are excited to share that we have introduced our Biodiversity and Biophilla Charter in all of our homes to guide and celebrate progress on our commitments. To help us continue working towards our commitments, we are appointing a biodiversity champion to help lead these initiatives in each of our homes.

On a group level, emeis has developed a BiophilGood label, this is an internal label dedicated to biodiversity, designed with designed with ecologists, medical teams, internal teams such as Real Estate Department and pilot facilities. This label recognises facilities that strengthen the link between nature and health through three major objectives: Promoting facilities that encourage contact with nature; Developing educational activities and initiatives; Improving the ecological quality of green spaces in our facilities.
